Welcome to my workshop.
I thought I might start displaying pictures of works in progress.
I know many beginner gumpaste artists or aspiring gumpaste artists would like to start learning this wonderful art form, but just need something to inspire them...to get that spark.  I've been told by some people who have viewed my work that I've inspired them to create gumpaste flowers.  This really touches me as I started making flowers after I was inspired by a beautiful wedding cake at my sister-in-law Heidi's wedding many years ago.  The cake was a Sylvia Weinstock creation dripping with the most gorgeous sugar flowers....I mean DRIPPING!  I don't think I've ever been inspired more than when I saw that cake.  Don't ask me if I remember how it tasted....I'm too old to remember such trivia especially at a wedding after a few libations.  It was several years later, after I was laid off from my long-time travel job and I lost my partner Richard to pancreatic cancer that I started taking cake decorating classes at The Chocolate Duck . I loved my teacher Chrissy and still do.  She is the most patient and talented teacher I've ever worked with.  That was in 2003.  I fell in love with the craft and continued taking all the classes they had to offer.  I was inspired enough to enroll in Culinary Academy of Long Island to learn baking and pastry.  I hated it!  It wasn't for me.  But I still wanted to do flowers....so I started my own business doing what I love .

Anyway....I thought I'd post some of my current projects/jobs while I'm working on them with some insight into them.  If you find it enjoyable....drop me a line at StewartLongIsl@aol.com and let me know if you have any comments or criticisms.  I find all questions, comments and dialogue most helpful.
Cheers, Stewart
